Planned giving is a creative way of supporting non-profits and charitable organizations that enable philanthropic donors to make larger gifts than they could make from their annual disposable income. By planning your donations, you can make a lasting impact on our residents and their families.
Types of Planned Gifts
There are three types of planned gifts: appreciated assets, like stocks and real estate; gifts that provide a lifelong income to the donor in exchange for making the gift; and gifts payable upon the donor’s death using estate and tax planning techniques.
Planned Giving Vehicles
Planned giving can be carried out in a number of ways. These include a bequest intention, or specific instructions on how a non-profit organization should use a gift upon a donor’s death; life insurance, which can be paid out to an organization as beneficiary; and retirement plans, which can be paid to the organization in part or in whole.
