Many falls will happen because of area rugs or in the shower; so living home alone can be very dangerous for those who have fallen in the past.

Those in this age bracket who are overweight need to adjust their diets as well as increase their mobility by exercising.

Not only will exercising decrease your weight, but it will also decrease your risk of depression. Since depression affects almost 20 percent of people over 65, staying active and socializing are recommended. Being depressed can also affect your health by lowering your body’s ability to fight off disease. Talking with friends, playing games, and going for walks are great ways to combat depression.

Taking the time to inform yourself and your family of the major health concerns for seniors is the first step in preventing them from happening.
